Living Life as a Great Commission Christian after Bible College: Interview with Chase Polishchuck

this episode we have special guest Chase polish today Chase is going to talk about uh what living life as a Great Commission Christian looks like for him and how he represents Christ to those in his life so Chase why don’t you begin by talking about your background a bit well hello and uh it’s just an honor to be able to be on here and uh yeah so uh some my back from where I come from is uh in Ministry is I’ve a gr Christian Home thankfully and did my journey of life and coming to know the Lord I ended up at uh CA Chapel Bible College and I spent about two years there working on my associates degree and uh during my time I was also a dorm St for a year and uh with that I had some guys just that I was living with or were in nearby rooms and kind just kind of pour into their lives and the season that they were in at the Bible College as students and uh just a great opportunity to grow in leadership and grow in pretty personal discipleship uh and then last summer after those two years I uh took an interance ship on the East Coast um as a in church planting at a uh sister Campus of a larger church I was growing and so I was able to get kind of behind the scenes on but it looks like to grow a church from the ground up and uh yeah so that’s just that’s some of my background for sure uh can you tell me what it looked like for you to be a dorm Steward what were your responsibilities what was it like to disciple other people yeah so when I was dor stward uh the first semester I did it I had three guys uh we were all in the same room and a lot of my responsibilities were logistical level just like I had some Co work which was uh reading and going to a little class each week but then with guys just being available to encourage them uh talk with them through things uh meeting with all three of them once a week uh taking turns sharing testimonies and just being an encouragement to one another I know I tried to integrate oh sorry excuse me tried to integrate some scripture reading and even some like discussion around uh what the scriptures mean and uh then met up with each one of them oneon-one pretty routinely probably about once a month and just uh kind of dig into their life and saw what kind of their maybe their needs were and how they uh are navigating life in their season and how I can possibly encourage them just praying for them and uh yeah that’s awesome um can you tell me some more about your time at bible college uh yeah just I like as a student yeah as a student um just talk about how you were able to um grow as a student what classes were especially helpful for you what sort of personal studies were especially helpful good question uh yeah when I was at bible college uh took a lot of classes I took uh some ones that come to mind as like notable classes to me I know were uh youth ministry uh sexual ethics that was a crazy class taught by the president of the school and uh for example I guess when I say sexual ethics that that’s a very loaded term uh sexual ethics uh included like uh clarifying gender uh context of what what God’s purpose for sex was uh and addressing things like homosexuality transgenderism women in the church and so on and so forth it was a it was a Broadband of things but that was a really uh practical learning class that was I say it was an introduction to the to the conversation for me so I know that that was encouraging uh the youth ministry class I took was uh super encouraging to me in that we had a a pastor teach that class that uh I spent quite a bit of time in Youth and so uh it was it felt very uh ground level practical in the things that we were taught and learned and it was uh yeah there’s there that youth ministry sexual ethics and I know for me a lot of my time in Bible College was also wrapped up in just the the life F life that I had with other guys at the school in the rooms that I was in I know I built some of my closest friendships from Bible College I still uh have to stay and so uh think for me uh being able to live in the dorms live on campus and see the you know roughly the same people almost every day you don’t really go a few days without seeing the people that you know and so and I that that was encouraging because you’re able to just do life with people ask tough questions navigate them together and uh kind of make some uh really good progress in my own personal growth because of those those uh conversations that happened beyond the classroom absolutely um and then lastly why don’t you tell me a little bit more about um your internship on the East Coast what was that like um what were you doing over there stuff like that yeah for my internship uh in church planting on the East Coast I uh worked alongside the campus pasture or um a like I said a a sister Church Plant um it was this is an uh SBC internship for Southern Baptist um and and when I was there I worked basically right underneath campus pasture and anything he gave me I did and so it was a a lot of it was it was really cool because it was catered to the needs that I uh like the areas that I wanted to grow and also the needs that they had so it was very mutually beneficial from things like uh a few books he had me read and uh do like uh summary Pages for him so that way he could reference it there books that he’s read or uh maybe some events that I led uh that were um to connect families with the church in what another or some projects behind the scenes that I worked on from uh planning like uh potential Outreach opportunities for the the fall and how they can kind of reach more people and schools or organizations in the area and then perhaps the the biggest project that I worked on was uh they they had launched their youth ministry this last fall right after my internship ended and uh project that I had was to kind of outline uh what would be necessary for the launch and all components of it and I proposed plan for uh launch and uh I know that for me that was really that was really encouraging and cool because um I ended up talking to a few of the pastors that I’ve known from over the years and and nearly every one of them’s launched a youth ministry from the ground up I just asked them ATT T questions and got to learn from them what they did and kind of crafted it for a a growing Church which I mean I took the internship because I love the idea of U church planting uh from the ground up and doing it right first time and have the opportunity to build the youth ministry before it even ever happens was a pretty pretty awesome I guess Visionary opportunity for sure and you also worked at uh Cal Chapel Bible College in the kitchen right yeah I did yeah um can you tell me about what it was like to um to do that as a student um when you weren’t a student and just uh you know what it was like to live life with other people your age um and just to live together in Fellowship as Great Commission Christians yeah uh for me when I was working in the kitchen as a student I know that there were it was difficult to find balance in having to good work and not being able to help people or having really early mornings uh and still needing to class to my coursework and uh they rest is in the process as far as uh same pled in that that that definitely brought some challenges and I know that the the lord gave me lots of opportunities to to redeem uh the time as a student and then once I continued on staff after my internship and was just staff and not student I think there was a lot more freedom there to still do life with uh guys on campus as staff I know from me when I came back as staff one of the things I had heart for was uh just being available for for guys that wanted to hang out get encouragement kind of like a dorm stward without being a dorm stward uh just kind of available to uh do like those guys and encourage them wherever they’re at and they encourage me too and that was really cool because when I came back and sta there were uh just a few guys I connected with some of them even first sem ERS uh that were freshh to the school had never met me um I really did uh get the opportunity to kind of connect with them and uh grow even Beyond kind of my my time as a student uh which has proved uh really special even to today because I I mean even yesterday I had a phone call with one of those guys so it was it was really an encouraging time even as staff to to serve making serve the students making food and kind love on them from the day to day and multiple meals a day and then also to kind of just interact with people even outside of my shs yeah and then I know that you also were involved in the local church when you were um at the Bible College what what did that look like yeah so when I was at bible college as was a student I was getting connected with uh a church about 20 minutes from there uh Springs of Life Church smaller smaller Church uh and they their lead Pastor Andrew and I was just uh do connecting more and more with him and uh I think because I’ve spent a lot of my time in whether it’s youth ministry as a student or youth ministry as a volte here at other times uh just connecting with pastors it’s been an encouragement in my walk so I got connected with him and um as we uh continue to get to know one one another a lot of our mission and values lined up and so when I had the opportunity to come back to the mountain and work for the school uh after uh my internship I also doubl down and ended up interning for him uh a lot of what I did as an intern was helping with the young adults kind of just getting things squared away like making sure we’ve got a whiteboard uh of following along with the teachings and planning to do some of the teachings also just I think doing life with Andrew because because he’s he’s the only Pastor on staff uh he he’s often spread pretty thin so I think a lot of what uh my time as an intern end up being was kind of pastoral care for a pastor just being a friend and hang out with his kids and uh kind of we were talking you know high level like Vision things for the future of the church at the time and then within the church there was just a lot of I think there’s a lot of uh just wrestle with within the congreg congregation going on and so uh there was a lot of just care being given and so a lot of my role was kind of helping with odds and ends and then also uh just being an incursor to him and his family where I could for sure can you tell me about your current context and how you’re able to just represent Christ to those around you and live life with him yeah so last fall after spending some time inning at that church and working I back to college uh just felt more and more a stiring from the Lord to to move back to my hometown uh which is where I am now uh primarily to to pour into my my blood family in this season um there’s just been some definite like estrangement over over time uh with me going to college and then just uh some some challenges within some of the relationships in my family and uh wanting to just kind of bridge that Gap uh I think the Lord just gave me more and more of a a heart for reconciliation in this areas and being more and more present uh for my parents my brother and other family members and so I think for me where I am at currently is I’m living right in my hometown near my parents and my brother and I’m kind of just hanging out with them being available having conversations uh while I’m uh just plugging away at a local church um when I moved home I wanted to find a church that was um like really close to my to my family’s house uh because I think in the past a lot of what we’ve done has commuted to church pretty far and I think more and more I’m growing to to Value being in your community your context and so I just had a heart to find a church that was going to be moit to me my family for the season that we’re in and um by the grace of God there there’s a church on the same street that I live on and uh it’s a a healthy church that’s all about stylehip and Community which is great for my family in the season that we’re in in needing community and so uh I’m prob new to that church uh just the last few months but I’ve already kind of just been getting super connected and kind of plugged in people that live in the area I’m part of a home group that meets every Wednesday I went to the men tree few weeks ago and uh have just been meeting up with yet again some of the pastors uh I think that’s just also the time that I have trying to connect with the leadership and uh offer help wherever I can uh and so think a thing that I’m talking with with them right now is uh where uh I can kind of find my place in service uh to the church with the good things that I have in the season that I’m in um and uh it’s been cool I’ve been serving in kind of smaller ways like maybe I know after our Good Friday service they need to move all the chairs and set it up for Easter Sunday because of the influx of all the people that were going to come and so right after service I hope to move to of chairs uh and small things like that things just create opportunity for conversation with people and uh kind of just can be present to things that uh maybe can get can get missed you know it’s it’s easy for uh or I guess it’s it makes the most sense when the service is over that you kind of head home you know and then when there’s a need that whoever’s left kind of takes care of it and they express that there was going to be that need I kind just step around helped things like that where uh trust serve be AV LEL of community I know they have a membership course that they’re doing right now so I’m attending that and kind of just really learning what uh another church is about and I mean because did an internship in one Church on the East Coast I was part of church this last fall and I’ve kind of been a part of a handful of churches and so being yet another church that I’m actually I’m really encouraged by has been kind of a sweet season for sure and and the way that you’re serving at that church is great I mean discipleship being a Great Commission Christian is done in the little things so that’s awesome yeah um so it sounds like you have a lot of experience in youth ministry and living life and discipling young adults um so can you tell me some of the lessons that the Lord has taught you through that some of the um mistakes and challenges and also some of the successes yeah where do I start I mean there’s a lot it’s it’s been a a cool journey of connecting with with young people in general and I think from me that I’ve seen come up in times past is there’s lot of questions of you know what’s my call what am I called to uh I think when I’ve looked at the scripture the thing that comes up the most is we’re called to uh to love the Lord with everything that’s in us uh and from that place of loving him we will go out into the world and love others and uh you know the great two great Commandments and so a lesson that I’ve learned for for myself as well as to encourage others is call to love the Lord with everything in us and so if if that’s our aim and we’re we’re on track if we’re trying to be uh self-serving or uh uh maybe we’re living in the fear of man uh rather than the Fe of the Lord uh the end result is not what God intended for us and so in the midst of pursuing passions and dreams and desires like as long as we’re keeping the main thing the main thing uh the Lord will guide us because we have our attention on him and I know that for myself like that’s a big thing that I I’m still learning I think I’m going to be learning so much to my life that to keep my vision clear I have to look at the one uh who is pure and on the throne is the king of Jesus so I said prob the bigest lesson I’ve learned is that you know Jesus said one thing is necessary uh and uh in the context of Mary and Martha and uh how Mary was sitting at the Lord’s feet and listening to his teaching as it says and Mara was worried and anxious about trying to serve the Lord trying to trying to do the right thing trying to make sure everything’s B and in the end Jesus just said Martha you’re worried about too much one thing’s necessary and Mary’s Chosen and won’t be taken from her so I think that’s a a big thing that I try to keep my eyes on is that uh one thing is necessary is to to look to the Lord and to obey his voice at all times and I said it’s easier been done but from practical level is just being super plug into prayer and in love with his word and subjecting myself to people that are older than I am that know better than I do uh and kind of listening to their hearts about my my passion and the things that I want to do with my life lesson wise is a good one then you said of some of the challenges that I faced right yeah okay well some of the challenges I faced was often with just my my own Pride getting in the way uh and there’s a sense of eagerness of like when you’re passionate about something that you want to do it but uh our character has to come first before a passion and I think often uh I’ve come to a a lot of stopping points uh or for the sake of an example I guess a lot of um red lights having to stop the car and go well I’m headed in this direction but there’s a red light it’s annoying I wait uh I think it’s kind of like what comes to mind when I think of like a character being kind of behind schedule and me needing to kind of back and grow and uh I I think I can think of a lot of times where uh maybe I wanted an opportunity for leadership wanted to serve and the the door closed um I mean Shar about my background and of all the open doors I got to walk through but you know for example like my second semester at bible college I applied to be a d St and the Lord closed that door it just wasn’t wasn’t his time yet and at the time I was I was a little bumed but I thank the Lord uh you know a few months into the semester and I was like oh yeah I definitely done ready to be in leadership I think I have a lot to learn from whoever’s above me in this season and I need to submit to that and uh kind ofended remembering that character is crucial and that uh we’re all on a path to learning we’re all Disciples of Jesus first and foremost so I think a challenge for me was just overcoming kind of my strong eagerness and passion to do the things that I love and uh submitting to kind of God’s uh vision for my life and taking me down a kind of a slower path that teaches me his ways uh to kind of guide my passion in the right direction yeah absolutely um so like what you’re talking about with um the primary responsibility of a discip maker is to be discipled by Christ um and how have you seen that worked out through um those who have been able to disciple you so the pastors who are over the internship the people in the department that you’re volunteering in and um dorm stewards that you’ve been able to sit under at bible college um just older men in your life um how have you been able to to grow through that and and what are some of the just looking back on that and reflecting what would you say are some of the most important qualities and most helpful behaviors that you’ve seen in those leaders it’s a really good question uh I think the thing that comes to mind is uh availability is when they take their schedules and they’re like when it someone shows me their schedule I think the reality is it just shows me what their priorties are if there’s like time on there for the Lord time on there for uh for pouring into people that need to be poured into like shows that there’s a value of their own Walk With Jesus but also others Walks With Jesus uh I think the leaders that uh maybe I didn’t end up growing close with or didn’t have the opportunity to connect with uh I think a big thing that came up was just that they weren’t available I thought they were too busy uh it’s not something I take personally it’s just not the Lord had in that season I I give them up to the Lord because you know they’re a disciple of Jesus not of me and but for those leaders that I like you said have been able to connect with they they were just available to meet where I was at I know when I think of leaders in my life even before the College when I was in high school my youth pastor like uh he was super available for a few years of my life and uh he intentionally discipled me for for over two years like like each week we pretty much met up and in that season of my life wow I really needed you know to be poured into uh as a young guy who’s just navigating LW and so uh I think of leadership and their quality and disciple makers above me I think of availability uh I think of just there um I think there self-control comes to mind uh may know that’s not the right word but the idea of like uh leaders that I had above me uh the ones that I looked up to too I think a value that I saw was that they weren’t short-tempered they were very patient with longsuffering uh I know that I can I can personally sometimes be like inside of me like man like why this why don’t this person like understand it why aren they growing and there can be a sense of like impatience in a person’s process but I big thing that I saw now looking back I incredibly value and to more more growing in this longsuffering and patience towards uh towards them like myself and they have that towards themselves but then also towards others and being able to trust the process knowing that uh God is at work in kind of the the uh slow details and the things especially that we don’t see that he’s at work like in the roots of the tree to bear fruit eventually but we have to be patient with the process because it’s a long one and uh cause in charge ultimately the growth uh though we plant and water yeah absolutely and I think that’s I think that’s really profound um especially when you said that uh the individual is Jesus’s disciple and not mine I think that that really shapes the way that um we go about discipleship um because ultimately you’re not aiming to form them into your image with your habits and your context um but you’re aiming to form them into Jesus’s image in their own context for what that means uh for them and I completely get what you’re talking about when you say um that one of the greatest qualities of a discipl maker is just patience towards growth because we make all sorts of stupid choices in the growing process and then we mature and we grow and we stop making those stupid choices and then we can have a tendency to look back at people who are in the same season that we were in and look at them making those same choices and not have Grace on them when we just came out of a season of struggling with the same things making the same choices um but being shown Grace and so I think you’re exactly right um that just having patience and living life with people and realizing um to to put aside The Pride that comes with that um and to just have patience for those who you’re living life with is is really profound absolutely um do you have any advice for people who are um discipling and living life with uh young adults and teenagers any sort of uh resources you would suggest or any sort of uh habits that are very helpful advice resources habits um kind like what I said earlier about loving Jesus above everything uh and giving our hearts to him if you as a discipl maker or like we said first disciple of Jesus and you are yourself learning it from the master himself Jesus and then we can turn and actually uh give what we’ve been given uh we love because he first loved us so if we’re not consumed by his love then we will not be able to love because we will be running on empty our own strength and so never won’t be patient like you were saying uh it’s it’s a whole whole spiral when uh Jesus is not our first love if our first love is uh our dreams if our first love is our uh you know title of leader or of uh Authority or even our position then we’re going to operate in the flesh we’re only going to hurt people rather love people ultim that’s what discipl is about loving people whether they’re at the season they in encourage them along so uh I think First Love Jesus above everything to that that means our dreams and our desires for maybe our disciples themselves needing to turn them to the Lord excuse me to turn them to the Lord just as much we as we ourselves are modeling that and turn to the Lord uh so that’s the advice I would give is uh ask yourself constantly if Jesus My First Love uh and as far as resources and habits uh I can give the answer to those things both in one book I’m sure there’s a lot of books and re I can mention but one that I’ll get is uh a little book by uh brother Lawrence a monk from the 1600s uh called the the practice of the presence of God and in it he essentially teaches one concept and he spent 40 plus years doing this one thing and it was as often as you can think of the love of God you just pause and you’re like God you you love me like and that changes everything because I’m loved I don’t have to try to earn man’s Fai because I’m loved I can then love and just as often as you can like he got to a point he says in his book that he got to a point where uh times of prayer and Times of working in a kitchen that he worked in plun enough uh between the two like to him they were seamless there’s no difference uh because to him he was just operating in the love of God now he did also mention that the first 10 years of trying this practice sucked and that he constantly wavered so it’s a it’s a practice that takes uh a it’s a lifelong journey uh and just because he’s a he’s a monk and spent you know four years doing it doesn’t me it wasn’t hard uh he said the first 10 years were absolutely brutal so that I mean maybe that’s I don’t know if it’s comforting or uh scary uh to see see you know me in the real world not a monk let’s see how long it’s going to take me to learn but I know for me it’s been an encouragement to try to build that as a habit uh even this last like month or so since I’ve read the book uh for the first time and it’s it’s a well-known book in I gu spiritual formation and in discipleship I find it reference by people so many times lots of authors referenced this tiny little book and now read it I totally get why it’s super Prof because it challenges our our thinking and our our mind and our thought processes such that we are to keep our eye on the fact of the Gospel that God gave himself completely for us you know you were you’ve been talking about you know being Great Commission Christians and rooted in the Great Commission is uh that we are uh that it’s it’s is rooted in the gospel that we are spreading the gospel to all people uh and namely through the people we get to disciple and if we ourselves can model that and even teach that teach people to as often as we can just think of the Gospel think of what Jesus has done because when we are having our minds on the cross we’re going to start living cross shaped lives uh because no one spends time uh lot of time thinking about something that they you know don’t care about I’m going to give my attention to things that I care about if I’m intentionally forming my thoughts around uh Jesus and his love for me and uh I’ve just been seeing fruit immensely so fast about how I’ve more and more been just convicted to love people in front of me because God’s love comes to mind so as far as advice resources and habits and things of that nature like that that little book I cannot recommend enough uh for such a habit and you don’t have to read the book for practicing the Habit uh I I really am summarizing the entire book in one sentence think of the love of God as often as you can absolutely um so in terms of of cultivating the presence of Jesus um how have you been able to see growth through practices like Bible reading and prayer but also practices like Solitude and silence Sabbath self-care um because I I know that those are ways that one can um when they’re not used to it very practically go set time aside to dwell on the love of God how have you been able to see those affect your life yeah I think for me um all the days where I maybe get partway through the day I like I’ve eaten ready like eatting food and I’ve done all the things I need to do and I have this sense of like like kind of anxiousness like I just [ __ ] need to do something but I don’t know what it is I get on easy and I like feel stressed out and not at peace and like what’s going on anytime I get to a point in a day that’s like that without fail every single time I didn’t spend time in the word with Jesus uh I don’t always feel its fruit on the days that I do read the word on the days where I don’t uh it definitely feels like like it comes up and I catch myself operating in the flesh or maybe I’m short with somebody because I didn’t give my love to Jesus first because he’s deserving the fruits he deserves the first fruits of our lives and so I know I’ve seen for myself that when I take time in my day for me it’s ideally in the morning before I start uh having to interact with people get things done the day kind of runs away from me like before that happens I try to get with followed in prayer in quiet uh away from my phone uh especially for Our Generation too easy to have the phone on hand and well I’m bringing the word but I’m also putting it on my story on Instagram it’s like oh your your tongue of Jesus is your Tong of Jesus turn our turn our affection our attention towards him and not towards uh the world and so uh I think for me where it’s been an encouragement is getting with the Lord in prayer and genely just practicing the same thing that I was just sharing of like uh really keeping the gospel simple his Love Changes Everything and so if I turn my attention towards that and every anywhere where I’m in scripture Old Testament New Testament uh prophetic books uh the Gospels letters uh history you know even the apocalyptic books like wherever I’m at so long as I am reading it onto loving the Lord and wanting to pursue understanding it onto the Lord uh primarily for the sake of come like you said of living in his love so I can give his love to others uh than that that’s been profound for me so in practices of the word prayer like silence and Solitude uh and caring for my soul uh I know trying to get with the Lord daily has been huge and also to you had mentioned Sabbath I know for me uh I’ve been trying to practice Sabbath for a few years now and it’s obviously transitioned because of the different places I’ve been in and what that looks like but for myself as an introvert who needs to uh recharge uh I I try to take probably about a few hours each week uh whenever season I’m in I’ll try to pick a day so that way it’s every seven days so there’s consistency because I think that’s the rhythm of creation for a reason uh I’ll take just a few hours on this day to to kind of get by myself if I can uh or with whoever I am with and just kind of communicate that I’m gonna take some time to reflects on my week how am I doing how’s my soul uh did I forget Jesus in the process of the day-to-day business uh I like to use the analogy of an airplane landing like when you get to your Sabbath like you’ve been you know flying through the week and so uh if I if I get to my sabath and I I feel like I’ve crash landed then uh there’s so there’s some like contemplation I need to have to figure out okay what happened this week uh because our lives can be can feel like a plain wack uh but often they can be at peace if simply we are centered on the Lord Jus said done so I think when it comes to like Sabbath um I try to extend my time and in prayer and make it more reflective on my week of okay Lord how can I love love better love you more and love others more and uh take my circumstances and actually respond to them rather than react to them uh and uh I know that’s been a a game changer for me because in the day today we don’t always have time to really wonder and reflect on how life’s going on what’s been happening I think sometimes we don’t maybe process our pain or process of confusion or even a weirdness why am I so tired like we don’t always actually answer that question we kind just maybe go watch a movie or C Out friends and the things are awesome but if we’re avoiding caring for our soul in our being then uh only got burn out so those are things that have been huge for me absolutely and I think just just one more topic um so I know that you um you led a prayer group on your college campus and at some local churches um can you tell me about that can you tell me about um how that was helpful for um like I said uh just cultivating um the presence of Jesus in your life helping to or what it was like to help to cultivate the presence of Jesus in other people’s lives yeah uh wow yeah that’s good I think uh yeah so I’ve had the opportunity to uh I I learned what corporate prayer was at bible college during my first semester at College like there was this talk of like prayer meetings that people were having and honestly I thought it was just going to be like popcorn prayer with like prayer requests on a whiteboard you know just kind of the usual like ending once like hang out end we like take prayer requests like I definitely had a pretty rigid uh misunderstanding of what court prayer was and uh now I you know so when I got to my second semester there was a people were still doing it uh they were you know I didn’t get any inact at that point but I just had one day just just stirring to to go to a prayer meeting go to a prayer meeting okay I guess I’m going and when I was flipped upside down uh that prayer meeting lasted 3 hours where we had no whiteboard there’s no uh popcorn prayer happening it was just like we were in the quiet for the most part and intentionally waiting on the Lord and letting him speak as he sees fits he’s fit and that’s I can feel pretty like foreign to someone who hasn’t hasn’t done that but I don’t find myself the easiest thing to do when I started practicing it was just to open up his word to to somewhere maybe was where I was at in devotionals and like kind of even at that time just practicing the same thing like Lord like here I am here’s where I am here’s how I’m doing like kind of just taking this internal it and just coming before him saying Lord like I’m here for you whatever you want to do teach me just being like Mary sitting at his feet waiting for him to teach and when a whole group of people do that some pretty special things can happen uh and so I know I learned a lot about that just doing that in the context of the Bible college for an entire semester uh and then uh over for the next semester when kind of the guy that was meeting in uh ended up ten CH this time at the college um there there was a lot of people that ended up coming and going for different reasons and uh I end up coming back to that c and wanting to uh continue kind of that culture of prayer uh routinely and it was like they did it at the time they had done it six next week 9900 p.m. every day because of college life for you and so I kept a similar routine trying to do as often as I as we could and it was pretty cool for that that F semester which was my third semester at the time uh we had you know a headful of different guys that wanted to kind of help rotate and lead and uh we had a chunk of students that were just that loved it and were embracing it and wanted to be in the midst of just like like you said cultivating the presence of Jesus on the campus we pray do a lot of different things from uh healing for people physically emotionally mentally uh and things like praying for the campus for Unity for breakthrough in different areas that were going on provision for families and different things the what brought up even time where like over a week where we just every day felt the stirring from Lord to repent it to turn from kind of our our ways and to turn back to the heart of God obviously uh just needing to like detox of any Idol that are in our lives and continue to make Jesus the one thing again and uh through that b call also tried to cultivate that any church that I was at at the time I had done it for a summer at a church up here near my hometown for for the summer that I was home in between those semesters uh and so often it’s just you need people that are just willing to do it sit in the room pray uh and I know that when I had done that at this church like although that direct prayer meeting didn’t continue uh something else continued which was cool because they began praying on Sunday mornings before service because of some of the uh an older couple that were coming to the prayer meeting that I was doing they they they took it and said hey we’re going to we’re going to pray on Sundays before service and they kept doing that and I know that that’s L chck that’s still going at this church I’m just praying for the day praying that the Lord would come and we at the service and I know that they’ve been having like Breakthrough of people like giving their lives to Jesus so that’s been really cool and I also did that uh building a prayer meeting at a church that meets on the same property as the Bible College uh and starting a pray being there for the season that I was around and they actually were able to keep that going now it’s today also been morphed into kind of Sundays before service where they gathered to pray for the service and prefer a myriad of different prayer requests from things like world mission to uh the families of the mountain where the College of the church that and things like that so uh those have been some of the prayer contexts that I’ve been able to be a part of I know right now uh I’m cly not doing anything for that but I know in in what I want to do is to continue that kind of stay in different context maybe even at the church of M at some point and uh it taught me a lot about the importance like you said of cultivating the presence of Jesus uh and making ourselves available for him to work uh without us taking charge so it’s been it’s been special the journey I had those things to being pray conscious yeah absolutely well that’s all the questions that I have uh thank you very much for doing this interview Chase I appreciate it yeah thank you for having me all this awesome aome
